The Golden Oriole

Not the best shot, I must say, but this is the first photo I have taken of the Golden Oriole. It looks spectacular with that yellow and black colours. Please click on the photo to see the details. This is a male. The female is drab green but I have never seen one. Looking up online I found out that.the Golden Oriole prefers deciduous woodlands, forest edges and orchards.

My favorite weather is bird-chirping weather.~ Terri Guillemets

I did click on it to get a better look. Wow, I have never heard of this bird, is it rare?

We also have this oriole in our property, and you should see them wage war with the crows when their nests are threatened. Kanak you have not seen my Kiasu post yet linked to yours.

Great capture! The colours contrast so well with the bare branches. I always think the golden oreole's call is like 'Mama mia'!

Golden oriole is new to me. I enlarged the photo..., wow, a lovely bird against soft blue sky! You say "not the best shot" but I prefer this to close-up, I like the contrast of lovely bird and the immense sky.

I think you should feel proud of capturing the golden oriole with your lens!

Hi Kanak, the oriole is truly a magnificent bird. Great that you could capture him with your camera. Nature has lovely presents waiting...I have the same problem with the whipbird. I always hear him but never see him or her, because they are always together. He makes the whip sound, and she says, not now dear!
Thank you Kanak for your visit and message. I am fine I just needed a break.

Hi Kanak; just discovered your blog via Anita Kumar's Red Ripe Tomatoes... Some fab photos you have! You are obviously one of those people who SEES nature rather than just LOOKS at it.
