The Grey Pansy Butterfly

The Grey Pansy butterfly/Junonia atlites loves to visit the marigold, the lantana and the Ixora blooms. I snapped this one the other day as it rested on the marigolds. Like the Peacock Pansy butterfly, it is found near water bodies or near rice fields. We have a marshy patch of land near our house which is why I get to see so many insects found in wet (land) areas.

Kanak,

This Grey Pansy looks a lot like our White Peacock. Marigolds around here seldom have butterflies visit them.

You have probably mentioned the species elsewhere, Kanak, but I would love to know the name of the Dragonfly in your header. A magnificent photo.

Your Grey pansy pictures are delightful. What exquisite markings, which really show up against the yellow of the Marigold, but blend in beautifully at the same time with the mottled shade.

Although grey colour but the motifs on the wings are outstanding. Great shot of the butterfly against those yellow flowers. It's all so matching hehe...
