Backyard Birds For WBW

Continuing with my series of regular backyard birds, the first is the picture of a kingfisher perched on the top of my terrace.

The Spotted Doves spend a lot of time amid my plants. Here's one foraging amid my small patch of ginger while the other looks on. They are usually seen in pairs.

The Common Indian Myna was busy pecking at some of the ripening berries on this tree while a pair of White-breasted water hens were taking a leisurely walk.
And this purple sunbird  was feeding amid the lilies growing wild near the roadside.

To see more of our feathered friends, visit World Bird Wednesday.

Thank you for sharing those photos. I am excited because we have blue birds in our bird house. The sparrows had taken over the house earlier this spring.

The birds must see your backyard as a wonderful oasis!
I just love the coloring on the doves. They are so unlike the mourning doves I see in my own backyard.

Great captures, especially the kingfisher. They are kind of shy birds around here. The Doves are pretty, love the spots. Thanks for sharing, have a great day!

An interesting post and great photos Kanak. Lovely to see more of your garden birds. I can't imagine having a Kingfisher in my garden, that would be just so special!

We have Collared Doves here and they visit my garden each day. As with yours, they are always in pairs.

The pretty Purple Sunbird looks lovely among the lilies. How wonderful to have lilies growing wild! We only see them in gardens here.
